Bitch, bitch, bitch

I envisioned my blog to have more humour but I find I'm bitching quite a bit. So lets have a bit of fun.
Royal blood lines, has anyone done a check on this? Do royals have different blood? Please tell me how a country like England still thinks having a Queen or King is good? One thing I know for sure, Queen Elizabeth sure wants to hang on so her ear flapping son does not get the crown.
Tim Hortons, how on earth has this company gotten so big? My goodness, sugar really sells, who knew! I find it hilarious that the food we love is so bad for us. Ironic for sure.
Drive throughs, until we have electric cars these things need to be done away with. In Canada it is so bad at a Tim's in the morning that roads are being blocked. Has everyone forgotten how to make coffee? Do you really think it's faster going through a drive through?
Rush hour, why oh why do we ALL have to go to work at the same time. When I was a trucker the same thing. Drag your wagon to the shipper first thing or miss the load. Nothing like a big truck trying to turn left in rush hour! A day in a life, wake up, shower, drive to Tim's for coffee and wait in line, crawl through traffic to job, get fired for being late, get stuck behind a big truck, go back to Tim's for 2nd cup, apply for job at Tim's, get hired, go home and start again tomorrow.
Dam, I'm bitching again! Well maybe that is how it will work. Me, I find a lot of humour in all this, as being "ironic" really is funny. No one is that serious are they??

Sock company growth

I dont know about you but my socks simply do not last. I know I'm not the first to point this out, but is the only way these companies can grow is to make their products worse? This is a trend that is getting out of hand. In order to show growth you make your stuff cheaper so we have to come back to buy more. But even the better stuff I buy does not last.
Being good, or great does nothing for the stock price.
Take Apple for instance, in a world of crappy windows devices Apple makes things that are VERY good, yet their stock gets hammered! For a normal working person this is hard to understand.
Car companies that do nothing to stop theft is another. The amount of money lost on car theft is mind boggling! Stopping it would be not that hard. Find my iPhone for example would be easy to do on cars.
No, by doing that the economy would suffer, car salesman would not make much money and sock companies would go bust.

The water supply

Okay so maybe you have an issue with humans being ironic, well please tell me how many other living creatures go about destroying the very thing they need to keep alive!
On the CBC in documentaries you need to watch, Last Call from the Oasis. This is one scary piece on the state of the worlds water supply. then I read this today, Mexico City's Mile-Deep Aquifer Tapping Suggests U.S. Is ...
Only humans can be this ironic, and well stupid! Although I don't like using the word stupid it's hard to come up with a better word to describe the lunacy that the people in power do with our most important commodity. It is very hard for us to claim to be intelligent when we do these kind of things to our environment.
But if you watch the documentary what I found to be really interesting is the cooperation of "enemies" when it came to water issues. Again, the ironic human, shows up. Many have predicted wars being waged over water, but it looks more like cooperation then wars, it's like they call recess to talk about this then go back to killing each other. Yep, 7 billion and counting.

Animal Lovers

For those of you who do not know me, I'm a vegan, well mostly vegan as I do eat eggs and have a tough time passing cookies without having one. Outside of that I eat mostly greens and fruit. So it was reported on the news that a local pet store in a small town had donated oxygen masks to the fire department to help save pets in a fire. A really great idea.
But then it occurred to me that these same people are meat eaters. How can you be an animal lover and still eat meat? How can you pretend not to notice how horrible these animals are treated? And with these new concentrated feeding lots the risk to local water supplies is at an all time high!
If you trully love animals, don't eat them. I'm still amazed at the backlash I receive when I tell people I don't eat dead animals. "Oh my, aren't you hungry?" Or better yet, "how do you get your protein".
The responses go on and on, but yet they claim to be animal lovers. Cook any dog lately?

Back to the Future

The most ironic thing we have to deal with is progress. The better we get at things, the more efficient we get the less jobs there will be. A new economy needs to be invented as our current one is going to run out of gas soon, maybe sooner then we would like to think.
I can't help but laugh when I see governments talk about cutting programs and increasing jobs at the same time. "We will slash the deficit and create more jobs if you vote us in"
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes sir, this is the biggest Ironic of them all!

Birth Control and Religion

I get it and I don't. I get the need to control women, and this is what I see when it comes to religious people trying to stop birth control. The last line of defence to oppressing their rights. Lets face it, if women are caring for babies they have no time to be engaged, and the poor hapless husband who needs to work his but off to pay for it all. Yep, keep those pesants buried in the day to day activities of family. And of coarse in the old days it was to grow more armies to fight with, we need more babies now go home and pitter pater! All religions do this, it keeps women off balance and in place.
But just how many babies do we need????? 7 billion and counting, yep we need more Catholics, and most certainly more Muslims for what I'm not sure.
No we need women, we need women to fix this mess that men have made. I believe this with all my heart. Of coarse the question that needs to be asked is this, if the roles were reversed would women do it any different? Ironically I think the answer is no. If you ask any stay at home dad I think you would see the role reversal in action.
But in the end, birth control is vital to our survival right now, and empowering women to decide this is the only way it will work.

The Future

Today I'm going to lay out my predictions for the future. My opinions are just that, and I won't any sleep over a bad prediction.
Wi-Fi. This will be the service that will dominate future connections to the web. And it will be free, well mostly free. This can't come soon enough for me, I know I'm not alone in hating the cell phone companies! But their towers are VERY inefficient and they cost way too much. Most homes are already wired for internet, so it seems to me that this will stretch out. If every home had a public Wi-Fi and a private one we would be able to walk down the street and never lose a signal. I feel bad for the cell phone companies, hahahaha

3 D printing. This will come quickly I think. But this tech is off the charts in disruption potential. This tech could literally wipe out thousands upon thousands of jobs. And there isn't a thing anyone can do to stop it. I will put up only one example, printing houses with a large 3D printer. Truly this device would solve pretty much all the worlds housing problems and do it cheaply. This is just the tip of what it will do. And these devices are already in test mode, just you wait and see what this will do!

Direct Investing. Stock traders beware, the future will bring direct investment to your living room. Like Shark Tank and Dragons Den you will be able to invest directly with start-ups by-passing stock brokers  altogether. This would make for a great retirement job, buying and selling stakes in small companies. I for one want this now!

Now these 3 examples are enough to trigger your imagination as to what is coming. It is going to be cool and exciting and scary all at the same time. Personally, I'm excited.
